Grant Wood

Grant DeVolson Wood (February 13, 1891 – February 12, 1942) was an American painter best known for his paintings depicting the rural American Midwest, particularly American Gothic (1930), which is also one of the most famous paintings in American art .  American Gothic is an iconic painting of the 20th century, and one of the few images to reach the status of widely  recognised  cultural icon, comparable to Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa and Edvard Munch's The Scream.
