Francisco Goya

Francisco Jose de Goya-Lucientes (March 30, 1746-April 15, 1828), Spanish romantic painter. Goya was a court painter for the Spanish royal family, had a very successful life and was often said to be the last ancient master and the first modern master. He was also one of the greatest portrait painters of his time.

Goya's painting style is unusual and changeable, from the early Baroque style to the later Expressionist-like works, he has been changing throughout his life. Although he never established his own school, he has a realistic and romantic painting school for later generations. It has a great influence on Impressionism and is a figure who inherits the past. His style inspired later painters such as Edward Manet, Pablo Picasso and Francis Bacon.
